Cyprus electricity costs

We recently rented a villa in Cyprus, and were charged 84.00 (cyprus pounds) for air conditioning in 4 bedrooms for one week = 168.00 for the fortnight.. This seems excessive even by UK electricity prices, bearing in mind a Cyprus pound is only worth about 80p, it worked out to about 190.00 UK. Does anyone know if this was a con? Or is electricity that expensive in Cyprus.

Electricity in Cyprus may be little more expensive than here, but not that much. Its a con. Sounds like about 6x what it should have been
I was told that they almost give electricity away for free in Cyprus. Unless the amount of building there has caused an increase.
