No you are not mad - of course you can see the London Eye from Birmingham. You can also see it if you stand in Exchange square in Manchester.
How can i answer this question without being really really sarcastic?
The London Eye isnt the only big wheel in the world you know?

Immi - I dont know if that was a deliberate wind-up but I cant stop laughing-thanks for giving me a laugh. You know - its one of the things that just come to you in the middle of Tescos and you suddenly start laughing and you cant tell anyone why youre laughing:).
Just looked at garys link - I'm now wetting myself.Must be the funniest post in ages and hardly anyone will see it.What a shame.Sorry Immo - no Thank you.
Sorry - Immi - got it wrong.

I don't want to seem humourless but what's so funny about all of this? The last I heard was that there was a plan to have a similar wheel in York as well.

I can understand Immi's surprise at seeing a damn great wheel somewhere like Birmingham, but they've had one before: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/3246355.stm

You being humourless ACW - never:)

That was only there until Jan04.I just happen to like a good laugh intended or not and it lightens up the sometimes deadly boring serious AB.

Better than the continual backstabbing and the snide remarks which are directed at people by because you can hide behind your anonymity.

ACW - does the concept of being able to see the London Eye from Birmingham not strike you as slightly ridiculous and therefore quite humourous?
Judging by immi's response he took it in good humour and hopefully he found the answer to his question.
Well, the whole thing raised a chuckle with me too! I'm across the water in Belfast, but on tiptoes, with my telescope,I can see it too!

i think the real humour of it all is the fact you have escaped Woverhampton only to arrive in Basingstoke.

It must be like having triplets without an epidural.

ummm, glad ur enjoying urselves guy. but i'm a she!!! and im not in basingstoke for long. going home tomorrow. and home is stoke-on-trent, not wolverhampton. was just visiting a mate there. i'm seeing wheels in my dreams now. hehe
'Wheels in my dreams' - you are painting pictures with words immi.
Beautiful!
Stoke-on-Trent. You have my seal of approval. Have you met Robbie yet?

OK Immi, here's something else to make you giggle about the Birmingham eye. When it was istalled, it was bought from a company who had it in Paris (France not west mids) so for about two weeks of it running, or rather going round and round the pre recorded tourist information tape was playing telling you that if you looked to your left you could the the Eiffel Tower, oer there is the Arc de triomphe, in that direction is the Basille etc, etc. The silly fools hadn't taken the tape out. That's not so bad but I just wish I was near and American hearing this and then complaining that he they couldn't see anything that was being talked about.

I hope that laughter goes on. I've never been to Stoke, I have been to Basingstoke and I'm pleased to hear your getting out (under the fence or in the laundry truck which is the best escape plan!)

Dont worry Immi, youre definitely not going mad! There is a wheel in Birmingham (just not as big as the London eye) I had a ride on it last weekend as a matter of fact!
