Hi,

I am trying to find travel insurance for myself and my partner. The trouble is I have a brain tumour. At present all is well and I am currently waiting and seeing, until my next MRI scan. I would love to go somewhere warm to celebrate by birthday at the end of this month but the cheapest insurance I have been able to find is 350.00!! I have tried some of the companies previously recommended on here but have had no joy. Does anybody have any other ideas of companies I could try?

Thanks in advance, Sandra

We got travel insurance from direct-travel.co.uk with existing conditions for an excellent price - but nothing as serious as a brain tumour though

i'm afriad that 350 pounds is probably about par for the course - you dont say where you are going though? Is the tumour cancerous? Are you attached to a palliative care unit? Do you have a site specific nurse you could ask?I only ask because there is a book called the accessible holiday guide which has a whole section on getting insurance for people with cancer - you palliative care unit probably has a copy or you can get it on amazon quite cheap. Are you flying? you may find insurance is cheaper if you dont fly - something to do with the pressurized cabins causing problem with brain tumours Have you ever had any fits? If you havent its worthwhile telling the insurnace people that.

one i have used for myself before is club direct (sorry, i dont have their details to hand) and that seemed pretty reasonable

Oh dear......genuinely sorry to hear of your problem but I'd agree that 350 is probably what to expect. Even at that there are likely to be some carriers who just won't take the risk with you.
I can't really offer any advice as such but wish you all the best for your holiday, but more importantly your health.

I have also been trying to get an annual worldwide travel insurance policy for my husband who had his brain tumour removed last year. One of the few places that will at least give a quote for an annual policy is the Post-Office with a 240 excess. It is a case of box ticking and you may or may not tick the right boxes but it might be worth a try.

Good Luck
