What an amazing piece of architecture is this cruise ship.

Just been watching a video of said ship

To  take advantage and get your monies worth on a cruise , you need to plan each day like a military operation  it seems to me

Anyone here been or know of anyone who has been on it?

How was your/their experience?

My wifes' cousin is a manager for Royal Carribean. She has been on them all, over the years, including the latest Icon of The Seas. She's more land-based now though.

No thanks, floating petri dishes

That would be my idea of a holiday from hell.

Mine aswell^

Seems like it would be impossible to get away from loud music & crowds of people. A nice walk in the country & a pub lunch will suit me better.

7,200 maximum capacity..  kids.. noisy families... no thank you.  Give me Saga any time.

Never fancied going on a cruise. It's a floating all inclusive resort,  not my cup of tea.

I'm with webbo, naomi, davebro, and smurfchops on this.

I thougt I would never enjoy a cruise but bit the bullet and went on a Regent Seven Seas . Small passenger numbers, very few children and special services for singles. If you chose to dine in restaurents at night you are assigned to tables of eight with other singles or couples with the same backgrounds. There are also cocktail hours for singles. I actually met people who had known my mother and my ex.

The cruise was to Alaska and the talks were on the wild life and native tribes. We saw salmon, bear, whales and sea otters and I learned that much of Alaska is Rainforest

Cant think of anything worse than be forced to sit for a meal with people I dont know and forced to make small talk while eating.

Nor me, Dave.  I would hate that.

I have done river cruises including the Nile but the thought of such a large cruise ship fills me horror.

I actually don't know if I would do a river cruise now either.

I'm in the 'my idea of hell' club also. There are too many people in close quarters. I've sometimes thought a river cruise might be nice.

If you want to be horrified by what happens when things go wrong, watch 'poop cruise' on netflix. 😱

I saw a bit of that on Gogglebox, pasta.  The hordes around that pool was enough to put me off cruising for life - never mind the plumbing issues!  Bleughh!

I also saw that on gogglebox Naomi. Texted my daughter and she* said it was hilarious so I watched on Saturday. It said a lot about human nature.

* she also said it was like Glastonbury. 😂

River cruise on the Danube was sufficient. Also back in the day I served on several ships deep sea. So a floating city/prison filled with noisy people would make me want to jump ship.

Horses for courses , i suppose .

There is obviously the demand for cruises for companies to be prepared to fork out millions for these vessels - in this case 2 billion folding

I have cruised on ten different cruise ships from small to massive, with three different lines.

Different people choose lines and ships for varying reasons, usually destination-based.

Cruising is not for everyone, but no holiday type ever is.

If you enjoy what it offers, great, if not, fine, but scoffing at what others enjoy, whatever the subject, is pointless and tiresome.

You will only ever get a slanted impression of any activity from a TV documentary - if you haven't tried something, you can only offer a view based on what you think, not what you know.

If it's not your idea of a holiday, fine, but that doesn't mean that rapidly rising numbers of people are not willing to try it for themselves.
