London Trip
Hello.
I would like to go to London to visit Abbey Road, studio, zebra crossing etc, I'd also like to visit a pie and mash shop, Manzies pie shop looks good, its in Tower bridge road. I live in Southampton so would get a train to Waterloo, from there i'm stumped, a friend suggested hopping on busses, as its free with my pass, others have said use the underground, which i'm reluctant to use.
Any help in the matter would be much appreciated, i'm appealing to anyone who currently lives or works in London and knows their way round, thanks so much.

Buses can be slow, due to the traffic. And it's not always easy to navigate the network. But as you're at ground level you do see the sights and how the different areas fit together. The Underground can be quicker, but walking up / down stairs, through tunnels to the platform can take ages, particularly if you need to change line. And when it's busy it can feel quite claustrophobic.
If you change your mind and just want pie and mash. From Waterloo station. Walk down to the London Eye, turn left, across Westminster Bridge by Houses of Parliament, down other side of bridge. Book a return boat trip with City Cruises to Greenwich, half price with Freedom Pass. It stops at the Tower of London as well and you get a funny running commentary. Then it goes on to Greenwich. Make sure you take warm clothes and sit outside, upstairs. Ask anyone where Goddards Pie and Mash shop is, there is also an indoor market nearby, Greenwich Observatory etc. and the Cutty Sark. A good day out... if weather is dry!
And make sure you hold onto your wallet and purse up there.
