Can you wear a wig in a passport photo and what are the rules

Does the  Gov site specifically deals with this ? . I can't find mention of it on there  which is where I would want to rely on .

I found this:

"When it comes to passport photos, you can wear a wig that you typically wear in your everyday life. In fact, it is recommended that you wear a wig that accurately represents your appearance since passport photos must be a good likeness of you."

Not a gov.uk website, though.

I don't know the precise answer but having just renewed my pasport it was only the face that matters - no shadows, no glasses or anything covering the view. Hair is an irrelevance as long as it's off the face -  after all someone with long brown hair may, by the time they travel, have it cut short, dyed blonde, shaved off or whatever..

I am sure you got to look natural.

I remember taking my granddaughter to get a passport picture, at the time she had an elaborate hairdo with extensions. She was advised to lose some of them.

Isn't there a switchover to biometric...so it's based on face recognition.

So if she wore a wig in the passport picture - would she have to wear the wig when going through passport control ?

she might not have to, bazile, they're really only interested in hair if it hides your face (the photo won't be accepted) but personally I'd do my best to look the way I do in my passport when I'm going through immigration; officials are so easily upset.

Indeed, esp. on the 2am landings. Snarky gits.
