We thought we'd have a look around at potential places to live in UK. Any suggestions? We are getting on a bit and what's happening in the US at the moment is very disterubing to us.

If I lived in the US and wanted to move, I'd head North...to Canada. Similar spacious vibe but the inhabitants are more laid-back and friendlier, with manners.

barmaid, as I said above, I was looking for seaside town, south coast, not a busy place like Brighton, somewhere quiter, not too far from London with easy transport links.

Though I am quite intrigued by the Norfolk/Norwich idea from some above.

I don't think the North or Scotland would suit. Whilst not a sun worshipper I'd like to be as southern as possible. I've considered the south of France too but I'd prefer not to have to learn French.

You might like Poole or Bournemouth, both on the south coast. If you've got the money, look at Sandbanks.

What about Hove then? It's lovely and you could easily walk into Brighton from there.  Perfect for you.

He doesn't want to go to Brighton

"What about Hove then?"

It's Hove Actually.    😀

Personally I live in Cornwall, but its become a holiday home for people further up the country so its not the beautiful county it used to be, as locals can't even get a place to live in, its pretty dire, and there was even a documentary on tv about it last year.

But certain places like London and the bigger cities are always in the news for the wrong reasons, stabbings, or whatever.

So I would choose wisely if I was you.

Canterbury/Whistable area is nice.  Went camping there in the summer and was quite impressed.  Easy to get to London.  I like Chichester and the Witterings as well.  Not cheap though

He doesn't have to go to Brighton Barry.  I don't.  Hove does it for me. Well Hove Actually as New Judge says;-)

I like Hove but I believe it's changed a lot since I was last there - gentrified

I always thought you were already in the UK or were an expat, kardashev, given your past posts about VAT on your business and The Chase. Anyone considering moving here needs to check whether they'd be allowed to reside here before thinking of locations. Do you have a UK passport

Strewth!

Question Author

Not sure where you are searching, I've said several times on here I work for a firm in Philadelphia, I don't have a business and I don't remember ever talking about "VAT", perhaps sales tax or state tax may have come up. Can you refer me to your source?

Question Author

...no I do not have a UK passport.

You beat me to it...
