The chaos in aviation at the moment isn't really to do with pilot shortages.
I started to watch it but had to stop but is that all he attributes it to, pilot shortage? I would love to understand the real reasons. It's no good people just saying too many wanted to fly at the same time. The airlines let them book the flights probably weeks or even months before. It's not like this huge crowd turned up unexpectedly each day.
It’s down to the perfect storm.
Airports and airlines furloughed most of their staff due to travel restrictions, said staff have now found other jobs and the security and training requirements take time.
If airlines didn't take forward bookings they would go bust. That's what keeps them in business. A lot of cancelled flights were actually cancelled weeks ago and passengers rebooked. So when the Press says "150 flights cancelled today" that is not strictly true.
