I cancelled my Cruise from Southampton around the Med due to the beginning of the Covid scare, and when a ship had lots of passengers struck down on it ….. around March last year before the ships had stopped cruising. I was given a quarter refund by the travel agent, the other three quarters is being held by Celebrity, they will not give me a refund but just keep putting the date forward for me to cruise again. At the moment we can go anytime before June 2022. The ship is not going from Southampton around the Med yet, am I entitled to a full refund or can they just keep putting the date forward till they start cruising again?

did they actually cancel the cruise you were going on?

I presume so, it was due to leave around April 5th. Had all cruises stopped then? When I cancelled, the cruises were still going though.
If you cancelled the booking, then why are they still offering you more cruise dates?
Question Author
Because they still have three quarters of my money and have given me a credit.
if you cancelled while they were still cruising, and before the government advised against it or ports banned the ships, it may be it was your choice rather than theirs and you're just like anyone else who changes their mind about a holiday and decides to stay home.. Best find out exactly what the dates were.

Yes jno, I cancelled when cruises were still going and got 1/4 of the money back so they are still holding quite a lot back. I have a Future Cruise Credit and they don’t seem to want to give me a refund ….
Jno's point is you are not entitled to a refund, as it was your choice to cancel.
I don't know that they have to give money back to people who just change their minds. That's why I suggest finding out the legal position at the time (and checking your insurance)

Thanks, that makes sense, fair enough, sI only cancelled because of Covid. I want to cruise again eventually. Just would be nice to have the money in the bank and be able to cruise with maybe a different company instead of being tied to Celebrity.
