What do I need to activate a new debit mastercard ? This is a replacement for my VISA debit.Thanks.

You have to pick a PIN number on their website to activate it. Then check at a cash machine that it is working.
Every card I've ever received has had full details included with it....and the info does differ, depending on the issuer.
I had a new one last month (Santander; mastercard; debit)
All I had to do was use it with the pin (not contactless) for the first transaction, although you can also do a cashpoint transaction
although I don't think you had to use it with the pin if you were doing online transactions. My recycling was collected today, or i'd go and look at the letter for you :)
They no longer send a PIN number in the post. So you cannot activate it at a ATM anymore. Choose your own PIN, register it on their website, then test it at an ATM.
if it's a replacement you don't need a new pin though sunk - just use the old one!

Your new Debit Card will typically arrive in 5-7 business days. Your PIN is mailed separately from the bank card and both are mailed to the address on file. No exceptions.

Hi everyone,thanks for your replies.I've had my card for a few weeks now but because of the pandemic I've not been out to use it,except for the first time at the ATM.I'm trying to pay some bills but the card is not being accepted.As for the paperwork,I can't find it.

Hi Dave with on-line transactions the pin doesn't come into it,so why should I change it?
I would try an online chat or telephone them.
you said it was rejected at an ATM - what error message did it give you? If you are using it online previously registered with a seller you may have to amend the expiry date on their records.
sorry - ignore my first sentence I guess you used it successfully at an ATM
Dave has it - on the sites where you are trying to pay your bills, put the details of the new card in to replace the old one.
Have you updated your account details with the new card details
If the card is
replacement the expiry date and the 3-digit security code on the back will have changed, so you will need to update them.
