We used to live in Wroxham (on the Broads) if Kate's fit enough once we can travel again we'll have another look at it, Cornwall is too far for her nowadays, much as we love it.

If you want somewhere warm in the UK you are going to be limited to watching the forecast closely and going at 24-48 hour notice or you'll miss it. Watch out for the Moray Firth area in mid to late May, usually the warmest place in the UK for 5-12 days at around that time with temperatures at 20+, about as predictable as anywhere in the UK.

You've not said how you'll be travelling, Bobbi, but you can get from Newcastle to Norwich by rail with just one change (at Peterborough). You could then spend a few days exploring Norwich itself, with the rest of your time using the rail network to get to Ipswich, Cambridge, etc, or to the coast.

If you've got a Senior Railcard you can buy an Anglia Plus Rover ticket which gives you three days (of your choice) out of seven with unlimited rail travel throughout most of East Anglia

We bought a senior railcard....and couldn't travel

Bobbi when our first dog got old and couldn't travel long distance we had proper staycations in our own home. We found places to visit that we hadn't ever been to, had loads of dog friendly pub lunches and picnics and generally behaved like the nicer kind of tourist.

I live in Whitley Bay. The Spanish City is long gone. The town is now a dump with no attractions. It breaks my heart when I think back to what it was like in the 50s and 60s.

Sadly Lola isn't 'dog friendly' Woof , she goes ballistic if another dog comes near her yet she doesn't go to them , it's very nerve racking taking her out

Warwickshire is good. Lots of history and lots to see and do .... and Birmingham is second to none for shopping.

I'd stay on the east side of the country for the better weather and as Chris has said, Norfolk and Suffolk is ideal. Its quiet and spacious and we have some beautiful little cottages.

Have a look at the Waveney Valley. Beccles and Bungay are sweet little places and from there you can enjoy the Southern Broads as well as visit Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Southwold.
