I have come across a description of them allowing a change without fee to any flight and any route. Has anyone thus far done this - does it take aim of the original fare paid against current fare on the replacement flight or is it literally pick your replacement ?

That should of course be easyjet....
I don't know what you mean by 'take aim' but anyway, you can book a future flight without paying their fee for changing the booking. You have to pay the difference between your flight and any future flight

Thanks 237SJ, I've just seen the answer to my too hasty question - it's clear on their site.
You should be OK if you want to change your flight with them. You won't be if you want a refund ..trust me!

Hmm, looking at the "new" pricing I will want to have a refund because pretty much everything in the next 6 months plus is double what it would have been. If easyjet insist on being difficult then I will turn to the card issuer and it will be between the two of them. Fingers crossed, we are talking about nine individual tickets already bought over the next seven months plus one already past (cancelled by the airline).
If Easyjet cancel the flight you are entitled to a refund. It should by law be paid within 14 days but that's not happening. They should email you when your flight is cancelled and you then have the option to cancel. It will probably take anything up to 28 days and they ask you not to chase up the refund (if not paid) until 90 days have passed. You would probably be able to resolve that if you phone them. Be prepared to be holding for ages though.
Don’t assume you will be going anywhere anytime soon - hold out for a refund (if easyjet cancels your flight you will be offered the option of a refund)
If you change your flight you won't have to pay a fare difference.

Getting your money back shouldn't be too difficult. I got through to them after a short wait and they said I could have a refund, no problem, but they can't process a refund until my flight is officially cancelled.
