I'll be in Edinburgh for the weekend in a couple of weeks, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a nice restaurant for the Saturday night. Budget not an issue, and preferably in the city centre.

It'll only be the two of us, so nowhere noisy and brash.

I can thoroughly recommend the Gardener's Cottage. Not dead centre but brilliant. Minty is fond of The Dome.

Thank you Togo. They both look quite nice.
Howies are reliably good (and reasonably priced)

Or, for something more special, the Witchery

If you like Thai, there’s a rooftop restaurant (with a lift) called Chaophraya. Fantastic views of the castle over rooftops. Ask to sit in the glass box.
