Go to a shop that sells top ups and they will put your oyster card on their card reader and tell you what credit you have left...very easy!
I think you can do it on this site, but it's not working at the moment

If you've registered for an Oyster card account you can log in and check your balance online.

If you've not yet got an account you can still do so (although, annoyingly, the registration facility is down for maintenance at the moment):

Alternatively you can go to any London Underground station and simply tap your card against the card reader on a ticket machine. That will display the balance.

Or, as MallyJ says, go to any shop that sells top-ups (which is almost every convenience store in London) and get them to check the balance for you.

Thank you all for you help - we don't often go down to London but GranddadG is marching in the Remembrance Parade on Sunday
If you find you have no credit left, the easiest thing in the world is to use a contactless credit or debit card - just touch in and touch out the same as with an oyster card. It charges the same fare as if you had used oyster.
