we are traveling with ryanair to crete in august used them before and no problems since they started allocating seats and save a lot of hassle, now we are being pestered by emails almost every day to buy our seats or we might not get a seat together, trying to tell them for a 4 hour flight who cares where we sit,did not go down well.

Have a look on any of these mails to see if you can unsubscribe - there should be a link, probably (but not necessarily) right down at the bottom of the whole thing.
Save any important emails with booking references etc. Then junk Ryanair until it's closer your holiday time.
That's a crafty way to get people to pay for their choice of seats. I travelled with my Mum from Singapore to Langkawi with Air Asia and when I came to check in online, they had pre-assigned our seats 3 rows apart. Most full service airlines pre-assign all of the people travelling on the same PNR together but low cost carriers make more money from splitting them up.
