Did You Pack Your Own Bags?

Often asked at the airport whether I packed the case myself, to which I have always answered truthfully - yes. MrAc also answers yes, although I have packed it for him. Should he answer 'no'?. He travels light, I take enough for a year so I use his luggage allowance. He probably has an idea what I've packed, but couldn't give a full itinerary.

If you answer "no" the next question, I would hazard a guess, would be "who did then?" If you he says it was his wife then I daresay the conversation will still end happily :-) Probably with a knowing look ...

No, you'll only be asking for trouble. They just ask that as if reading off a list anyway.

I think they mean they weren't packed by someone not travelling with you.
They never ask Mr T. They always ask just me. That might be because Mr T looks like someone who couldn't pack a toothbrush. He goes all of a dither at airports.
I don't actually pack my OH's bags. I make sure everything is ironed and folded but he's left to pack them. I don't want to be blamed for forgetting something.

Not that anything would happen if I did.
I pack both cases. I put some of my clothes/things and some of Mr T's clothes/things in each case. That way, if one of the cases goes missing, we each have something to wear.

That's good of you Tilly. I put all liquids into his, so if anything spills it's not over my clothes!
Good idea, AC! I didn't think of that.
Never deviate from the norm with airport staff.

Stupid people have joked about 'bombs' in luggage, and they get a deep cavity search, and enough questions to miss their flight as a reward, and a reminder not to mess about!

The reason they ask is that, if they ever do find anything on anyone, then straight away they have broken security regs by lying.

You need to get through airports as quickly and painlessly as possible, so go with the flow, and don't get creative!
Lol...good AC.

Funny you say that, Tilly, his case went missing the last holiday we went on. Someone on the transfer bus picked his case by mistake (they did look almost identical) The hotel did hunt it down though.
I'm sure he should answer, "No". I'm sure most would consider him foolish to do so and make himself of interest. It's not like you can't be trusted... or ...
he should answer yes if he wishes to join you on the flight
// his case went missing the last holiday//

o my brother in law came back with someone else's spectacles
It was okay except he had the toothbrushes in the case. We were just heading out to buy him some clothes when the hotel rang to say they'd tracked his case down. It was a womans case he had....

Just to clarify - so what are you saying he should answer - yes even if the missus has packed it ?
I make Mr M check his bag, that way not only can he say yes he packed his own bag, with his hand on his heart, but he can also verify to me that he has everything he needs. Any missing items are no longer my fault!
they just watn to know if a terrorist packed it or put a bomb in it after it was packed. So tell them you packed it yoruself and nobody could have added anything. That way they've covered themselves by asking and you've covered yourself by answering.

I wouild have thought if Mr Tilly2 was dithery it would make him look suspicious. If I were Tilly I would pretend to be with someone else.
I do, jno, though it doesn't seem to work.

when you are queuing to book in there are a few clerks milling around
and when you come to board - eh same ones are there, looking for soft signs of stress, sweating and so on I suppose

one 'recognised' me -and I didnt say 'you threw me off the flight thro your incompetence when I last flew five years ago and I raised hell about it.'
Prudie has the answer here,,they are just box-ticking.
