Egyptian National Travelling To The Uk

Hi, my daughter is a Uk citizen and has worked and lived in Egypt for nearly 2 years, she wants to come home for 1 year and bring her Egyptian friend with her who we would support and house. Please could anyone advise on the requirements her friend may need to enter the UK. From a UK point it appears they will only need a holiday visa which is for 6 months and cost around £80 but does anyone know if they need anything to leave Egypt? They do have passport but have never left Egypt, any advice would be helpful, thankyou

The friend will need a visa in the first place as you say, but the holiday visa, you say, is only 6 months so they wouldn't be able to stay for a year. The friend's best bet is to contact the Egyptian equivalent of the passport office?
