Looking for a winter holiday in February. We are watching an Oceana P&O cruise to the Canaries but it suddenly went up £400 yesterday. Thought they cot cheaper nearer the date (30 th Jan for a fortnight). Found one in the paper today with a fortnight AI 5 star in Madeira. Anyone been in FB. What's the weather like?

demand for cruises gets higher nearer the time, people snap up last-minute places.

No experience of Madeira but we've spent a week in early Feb on the Costa del Sol in Spain. Sometimes it rained, sometimes everyone was out in the sun in shor. With this year's weather, I wouldn't rely on good weather - and Madeira being out in the Atlantic, it may be getting similar weather to us as it blows in from the States.
Airlines and cruise companies know that if people are looking for a flight or cruise in a few weeks time they are REALLY keen to get away so they can charge more.

I would guess the only good time to get a deal on a cruise is a day or so before it sails, then they are desperate to sell the space.
