My good lady and I are looking to go to Tenerife next year and would appreciate any advice regarding our visit! We found a place in Turkey via The Answer Bank earlier this year that fitted our needs to perfection (Cirali) and thought we would try again re: Tenerife!!
We are looking for a place that is low key, and unspoilt by high rise. We also love nature, walking, and a stroll into town in the evening! We go to Nerja as a rule as this ticks most of our boxes but as I did say Cirali in Turkey with its natural unspoilt beach and lovely people made it a place to keep in our memories forever. We intend on going back in May but are looking to try Tenerife in Feb. Any help on this would be much appreciated as we have never been to the Island before. Many thanks in advance.

First piece of advice is not to refer to your wife as 'my good lady'.
If you want quiet, near the beach & a good hill climb Los Cristianos, 20 mins from the A/port, very clean, a realy good walk along the front with many seats / cafe's, shops etc, we have been thee quite a few times and realy enjoy the place / people / are very friendly.
I would suggest any of the resorts on the west coast, approx 40 min from the airport, namely Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago, Playa Arena. Lots of good walking opportunities, good restaurants, and virtually no highrise blocks , whereas Los Christianos is full of them. As TWR says, Los Christianos has a great hill-walk, but there are nicer places to stay IMHO. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Many thanks all for that all.
I have often looked across at the island of La Gomera and considered making a trip over. It looks unspoilt but maybe the towns are not busy enough to find a range of bars, restaurants and shops

Tenerife is a rock in the Atlantic with alcoholics clinging to it. Don't go there !

Have a look at elmadano we went in March and are going back next week, quite near the south airport, very spanish, chilled out resort with lovely long natural beach a little windy but was a welcome breeze! Not a tourist hot spot.
