I need to get from Victoria to London Bridge. I'm not keen on the Underground as I'm not very good on escalators. Can anyone tell me if there is a way I can do this journey by bus? Thanks

Right, you can get to London Bridge by tube without any down escalators (or any escalators at all). You can travel by District/Circle line from Victoria to Canon Street (one flight of stairs down and up, seven stops, twelve minutes) and then take a National Rail train from there to London Bridge (one stop, three minutes). Or you can stay on the tube to Monument...

Would a taxi be possible, Rosie? I often use taxis in London because I hate the underground and they aren't too expensive.
go to journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk untick everything but bus for mode of transport and enter your start and finish, it looks like you can do it with a walk and two buses or three buses

Yes I might well try that - might save a lot of hassle - thanks.

Thanks Fitzer that ones new to me.
Should be around £12, Rosie.
The C10 bus takes you closest to London Bridge without having to change buses. You would get on at Buckingham Palace Road which is outside Victoria Railway Station and get off the bus at Borough Station. At Borough Station you walk up Borough High Street to London Bridge.
Victoria to London Bridge by bus is an awkward journey. T will involve a bus to the Elephant & Castle and a bus from there to London Bridge. There will be a considerable amount of walking involved (not least because of current road works around Victoria) and will take the thick end of an hour.

If you can manage National Rail you can travel from Victoria to Peckham Rye (about twelve minutes) and a second train from there to London Bridge (about ten minutes). The trains connect fairly well and you should complete the journey in about 30 minutes. As far as I can remember the change at Peckham is not step free and involves a change of platforms via a staircase down and up.
By the way, how are you arriving at Victoria? If you are travelling from the south or south east there are other options

I'm coming from Oxford by bus and am allowing loads of time to do the journey in London. We've got a trip to the Shard booked so am hoping not foggy! Thank you all very much for good answers.
I hate the underground, but I brave it when necessary. I'm sure there must be lifts available if you struggle with the escalators
I can't help smiling Rosie. You are not keen on escalators but happy to go up the Shard. You're much braver than me!

Its the "down" escalators Maydup - I feel as if I'm stepping off into space. Sometimes if I hold onto someone its ok - but then they say "go" and they go and I don't.!
I know the feeling, especially if you're carrying a bag and only have one free hand. Stick to the bus or taxi as the train routes are not direct anyway.
Or you can stay on the tube to Monument (one more stop), alight there (stairs only) and take a stroll across London Bridge to the south side.

OR... you could get off instead at Embankment (three stops) walk up to Charing Cross (five minutes) and take a National Rail train from there to London Bridge (two stops, five minutes). Easy Peasy !!!
you should be able to rebook another day in the Shard if it's foggy.
