Further to my post last week I just wondered if anyone had any good campsites to recommend in Chamonix. The one we were hoping to stay at doesnt take reservations so just wondered what anyones experiences of this were like? Is it risky driving all the way down there with no reservation? Any reccommended campsites - we'd like quite an organic camping experience with no bars/discos/kids clubs on site!

Cheers xx

HI,

Not sure but the following link may help:

It would be unwise to go to Chamonix without booking a campsite. It's the only place in Europe where I have been unable to get a place for a small 2 man tent for 1 night.  Try Les Huttes which is outside Chamonix and quieter.  The AA Camping Guide for Europe is very reliable.  There are more organic places in Switzerland than Chamonix.
