My son wants me to search for the price of train tickets to London that include travel on the tube.

What do I search for? Is there a certain name for these type of tickets?

they may call it a combination ticket. You probably want one with a Travelcard included

Thanks, jno, not as cheap as I thought.

I looked at that, Eve, but none of the tickets came up with 't'
Which tube stop is he going to, some of them come up in the journey planner.
when I get the train in from St A, I get a travelcard. it covers the return train journey, plus the tube and London buses
local to you, I can see
off-peak £30.70
peak £59.60
1st class £96.30
Question Author
Eve, I'm not sure yet.

Sara, that's the price I got. Just seems a bit expensive for a 14 year old to have a day out.
oh.. let me see if I can find a child price..

off peak £15.35

Peak £29.80

1st class £48.15

Question Author
That's not too bad. Can you give me a link please?

try it yourself but with a date. make sure you select "child", although I'm not sure what age that covers
I'd be wary of getting off-peak unless you know his travelling times
if you're booking in advance you might get a better deal from one of the cheapie train ticket sites

Cheers Sara. He'll be back from his paper round shortly and I'll get the exact dates and times etc...
Avoid "cheapie train tickets sites", they don't exist. The fares are the same buying from the train operating company (TOC) and work out cheaper. The Trainline and others are agencies that charge booking fees, that's how they make their money. Stick with the TOCs that run trains in your area. Under 16s are entitled to child fares.
Well nobody seems to have done it the way I would!

Start on the National Rail website:
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

Enter the approximate travel times but then also click on 'More options, railcards and passengers'.

Set Adults to 0 and Children to 1 (or as appropriate).

Click 'Go'.

Then click 'With Travelcard'
