The whole of the West Coast is stunningly beautiful, make sure you get up at least as far as Ullapool.

thank you

was definitely going to the Kyles of Lochalsh

Hadn't thought of going to Ullapool

You don't say what sort of budget you have but if you really want to splash out for at least one night, try Cameron House Hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond for some 5 start luxury in a fantastic setting!  In fact, if you have a look at www.laterooms.co.uk they sometimes have a good deal on a room.

Get the ferry from Gourock to Dunoon - it's only a short crossing but you really get the sense that you're going somewhere and the drive north from Dunoon is stunning!  At the head of Loch Fyne, there's a wonderful fish/seafood restaurant (Loch Fyne Oyster Bar).

In Fort William you can take a gondola (cable car) up Aonach Mor, one the mountains in the Nevis range for some amazing views.

A drive through Glencoe is also stunning.

I could go on and on at length here (home territory for me!) but you could have a look at the Scottish Tourist Board's site:  www.visitscotland.com for more info.

Beware the midgies - some good insect repellants are usually available locally!

I really hope you have a wonderful trip and get some decent weather for you to see Scotland at its best!

thank you ceebee

Another suggestion for you spat - there's an excellent book call Taste of Scotland which lists great places to eat across Scotland.  Have a look at their website:

www.taste-of-scotland.com

Head for Fort William and then go on to Mallaig.  The scenery is breathtaking.

Avoid haggis  it's horrible.  Before all you Scots come on and complain at my answer, I am Scottish and proud of it but haggis is revolting
