left it a bit late, but I would have rung them to find out. I'm not aware of Flybe's rules about hand luggage but it's usually one peice that fits a regulation size carry-on case. They may charge you nowadays, when my daughter got married abroad she was allowed to carry on the suit carrier but that was years ago. Sorry I can't really help.
I'd not take any risks - just before you go through security, pop your handbag into the suit carrier - that's only one piece of hand luggage then. That's what I usually do, stuff my handbag into the hand luggage.
As with all budget airlines, there's a strict 'one bag only' rule with Flybe. If you can't get your suit carrier and handbag (plus any other hand baggage, such as a flight bag or airport purchases) to fit into a SINGLE bag, measuring not more than 55 x 40 x 23 cm, you'll have to pay for hold baggage.

However if your suit carrier will fold down to meet the size limit, and you can tuck your handbag (plus anything else you might be carrying) inside it as you pass through the check at the boarding gate, then it will count as a single bag anyway.

Took this from the page below--
Furthermore, those faithful suit carriers are banned from the cabin. “Travellers can only take a suit carrier if it fits the cabin baggage dimensions,” a spokesman from the Department of Transport told OAG Executive

Here's Ladybird's (corrected) link:

However that page is from 2006. The Department for Transport ceased limiting the size of hand baggage (for all travellers) from 29 April 2010, so the only size limitations which now apply are those imposed by individual airlines.

The DOT limits were neve imposed anyway. IMO. Just fold your suite carrier over and you should be OK.

Just to let you all know how I got on...and if anyone wants to know for future reference....the staff didnt even bat an eyelid!! told her I had a suit carrier and handbag..she just shrugged and said its fine..even through security and going on board..no-one was bothered....

I'll tell you this much...Flybe are so much more helpful and lenient than those at Ryanair!!
