I can't tell you much, excet that my best friend and her husband have just returned from a holiday there, and she said it was wonderful, and they'd definitely go back. That's always a good comment I think.
Sunflower, i go to Gran Canaria 3 times a year. I was there in May and im back on the 10th Sept. It's a fantastic place with red hot weather and it's cheap to eat out and drink till the sun goes down. Which resort are you going to? If it's Puerto Rico where abouts are you staying.

Thanks horseshoes and rosiew....not sure how you knew but I am going to Puerto Rico, Amadores Beach club in Mogen. It's always good to hear that people return, must be lovely x
Amadores beach is absolutely stunning. It's manmade and the sand is white. There are lots of shops and restaurants where you can sit and watch the tide come in. I hope you like it hot Sunflower as it can get up to 40 degrees easily.Get the ferry (it's very cheap) over to Mogan, the little village is lovely although very small and if you like markets, they do one every friday. As i have said, i go 4 weeks on monday but i wish i was going next week. Enjoy it
Stayed in Puerto Mogan a few years ago. Had a really nice time, but trying to find somewhere to park the hire car was a nightmare. We had to keep moving it from spot to spot, and when we decided to explore the surrounding countryside, the roads were so narrow and twisty, with scary drops, we just we back to our apartment. It would have been cheaper to have booked a taxi there and back.
Nice boat ride along the coast to next village, (Puerto Rico)???
Mogan is not as touristy as some of the other places.
Try and spend some time in the capital, Las Palmas, busy but interesting.

Oh rosie thankyou and yeah love it hot!! I didn't realise Mogan was a ferry away but sounds fab to visit. How long would it take to get to the waterpark on the bus? Also I would love to take my teens windsurfing could they try it at Amadores? or further afield perhaps. We love exploring when we go away and I don't do hirecars so any ideas greatly appreciated though there seems plenty to keep us happy!!
Puerto Mogan is lovely - all canals and waterways, nicknamed "little Venice" We went there many years ago when it was being built, hope they haven't spoiled it now like they have with Puerto Rico just along the coast, that has become a concrete jungle far removed from the days when there were just a handful of hotels around a little bay. The same has happened with Playa Taurito nearby. Gran Canaria is not the place it used to be. We prefer Fuerteventura out of all the Canaries.
Actually when i have been thinking about it, you will be able to walk to Mogan if you like walking and then get the ferry to Puerto Rico harbour and back again. Not sure about the wind surfing but in Puerto Rico harbour they have a list of things to do. When you get off the plane in the airport there are people there who give you handouts and maps of everything you can do on the island. There are quite a few waterparks that you can get to by taxi and it does not cost much. Try to organise the trips if you want to go on any yourself as the rep trips are far to expensive.

thanks again rosie...yes I avoid reps etc at all costs and when we are going abroad I do the usual online research which is invaluable to me. I refuse to be ripped off!!
Sunflower if you go onto www.canaryforum.co.uk and flick around this website, they maybe a few pictures and useful information for you on there. Have a great holiday and leave some drink and sun for us when we get there
Hi sunflower, I hope you enjoy your holiday, it is a wonderful place. I echo all the above remarks about Gran Canaria. I was there years ago and somewhere you can go on a submarine trip to view the fish....I am sorry I can't remember the name of the place....but if you could find it , it is an awesome experience.
