We are thinking of staying in London week comm 27 feb for my biggie birthday. Can anyone recommend a really good hotel as I know you can pay loads for something thats rubbish. Dont mind paying as long as its a really nice hotel for a special occassion. Also any decent shows on in London at the moment ?
Thanks

The Rookery in Clerkenwell is nice in a charming quirky way, as is the sister hotel Hazlitt's in Soho.

For a bit more modern The Marylebone has nice rooms and is central. Also modern are the Park Plaza group, I've stayed in a couple and found the rooms and facilities very good. Pearl the restaurant is excellent.

The Chancery Court in Holborn/Covent Garden has amazing rooms and the bathrooms are good, breakfast is pretty damn good too.

The Kingsway in Covent Garden has spacious rooms that are comfortable and is in a good location.

Crowne Plaza in the City has a great Italian restaurant attached operated by Giorgio Locatelli and the rooms were good, although that was a couple of years ago.

I'll keep thinking......
And for shows I can recommend "Warhorse" , "Phantom of the Opera", "Les Miserables", "One Man Two Guvnors" and "The Woman in Black" depending on what type of show you like and what you've seen already.

Happy biggie Birthday, have a great time.
I've heard the savoy is quite good.
Sorry, I did even touch on the shows. As the film is about to come out it might be nice to see the Woman in Black on the stage and then see the movie. An interesting compare and contrast exercise! It is a great play.
I always stay at the Montague at 15 Montague Street, London. It's great for theatre going and Covent Garden.

I have Always stayed at the Meridien in Picadilly.
Go to see Jersey Boys - it's great and will have you bopping from the off! A perfect bithday show. Becks said on J Ross tonight that he's seen the show 7 or 8 times!

I have stayed at this hotel many times and would recommend it to anyone. It would be best if you stayed there for 5 nights or more as then they do a discount. Book there with confidence and mention my name for a further reduction:
