I have got to have tests at the John Radcliffe, probably some time next week. One test is dependent on the other but I've been told there is likely to be some hours apart, and one has to be conducted as early as possible in the morning.

As such I'm considering going down the day before and staying overnight rather than try to arrange transport (I'm 50 miles away) and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice on where.

I've looked at premier inns and travelodge, but both are miles from the station and the hospital. Obviously I've seen other places in the search nearer but I'm just wondering if anyone has personal recommendations. Ta muchly.

Last year we stayed at an Old English Inn "The Dog House" it was lovely, good food including big breakfast, nice staff. Just up the road was a Park and Ride into Oxford - perfect, no parking fees and we used our senior citizens' bus passes so cost nothing!

Look on here PD - there may be a park and ride which goes past the hospital

Thanks anyway but that's even further from the hospital than the two I mentioned.
Yes but we got into Oxford in no time at all on the bus - no hassle. We didn't like Oxford at all, it was our first visit and found it nothing compared with Cambridge, so we were really glad we were staying out of the city centre.
We stayed at Rewley House in Dec 2010 - it was very warm and comfortable during that very bitter winter.

we didn't use their dining facilities as there are so many round and about eg full English on the market, a short walk away.
We used the Seacourt park and ride which was for some reason free at the time - doubt it still is http://www.parkandrid...ford_parkandride.html

The hospital is not in the city centre.
Looks like the Churchill park n ride would be right for your side of town.
No, ignore my last post: use the park n ride map on the first link I gave and it tells you all the bus routes etc to the JR.
There might well be hotels or b & Bs on headley Way / London road area.
Most Hospitals have information on places to stay nearby for patients who have to travel, call the main reception and ask, then you can research which may suit.
depends what you want PD. Accom in oxford is expensive unfortunately, but there is a youth hostel in jack straws lane, which is within walking distance of the hosp. If that doesn't appeal, perhaps a Band B in Headington?
ps i used to work in the JR and we had lists of places people could stay (relatives etc)
Also, EVERYWHERE is pretty easy to get to by bus in oxford and any bussess that go to the hosp stop right outside the main entrance
When we stay in Oxford we use the Travelodge, there are 2, and both of them have easy access to the park and ride. Peartree one is actually virtually on the same site. I think the bus goes past the Hospital.
the one in cowley isn't far from the route of the 10/10a which go to the hospital too
There are several guest houses on the London Road, Headington (one, I recall, named Mulberry G.H.). These shouldn't be expensive and have the advantage of being just a few minutes (by bus) from the JR. They are between the Headington "hamburger roundabout" and the traffic lights at Windmill Road.
