South of France?
probably Canaties or Cyprus
Definately Spain or Cyprus, wouldnt want to go too far away
heres an idea, why not look at a map for some "near" countries then go to Google and type in the names of those countries and look for average temps for the winter period for those countries

Thank you all for your replies. It has to be near"her indoors" hates flying!!
I've been to Malta at New Year and it was very pleasant. Not really sunbathing weather, but shirtsleeves most of the time. Likewise, the Algarve, Sicily and Southern Italy. Much of North Africa, Tunisia, Morocco etc is fine as well. If you want really hot, then probably the Canaries, Egypt, Dubai etc.
If you mean guaranteed nice weather, probably Madeira or the Canaries. It can snow even round the Mediterranean (as in Barcelona last year), so a short flight may not be enough. But if you're prepared to risk occasional cold snaps and rain, the Med will probably do: south of Spain or Cyprus maybe.
