the ones i met in the US were not, they were mostly kind, pleasant people, much as you would find in most countries. Courteous, and welcoming.

If the question had of been "all Indians are self righteous" nobody would have questioned it being a racist question. why is it different because it's about Americans?

Under UK law a racial group is defined as "any group of people who are defined by reference to their race, colour, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origin"

Or under American law. "A set of individuals whose identity as such is distinctive in terms of physical characteristics or biological descent."

no they are like you and me, all colours, creeds, religions, from every port and call. What they do have, and this was my experience is a belief in the idea of being an American, and its not that they are always right, if you call that self righteous up to you, i wouldn't.
