(sorry for appearing impatient)

AOL........gRRRR
Scammed near £50 out my a/c last month instead of £23....AOL mistake.
When on phone charming lady (Irish) 'persuaded me that I would be better off with their package at £22 a month -same deal -all calls bar the usual free plus broadband.
I would then be able to dispese with BT -currently £14 a month.

Yip -said i would go for it even though it was an 18mth contract.

Today rec'd BT Bill and realised that AOL had done nowt except cut off my phone service with them.

Just phoned -charming lady (Indian) who told me that the the system had accidently cancelled my order.

After a bit of leaning heavy on my part I was offered 1mths free and a credit to my a/c of the equiv of another 2mths (£44) on top of the money they had scammed off me.

I have left it hanging as AOL are rubbish plus if their system goes down they wont do anything as they dont support the router I have.

Right -you know what im gonna ask -who gives the best Broadband,24/7 calls to all landline numbers with the obvious exceptions and customer service in your opinion with a shorter contract.

I have gone on price comparison but i'd like 'horses mouth' type of recommendation please. I thank you :

i'll sell you chuckie on a 36 month contract at £101536.00 per month

sorry no idea i just have an orange dongle and suits me fine
I pay sky £45 per month. For this I get line rental, all calls, broadband and their family TV package. I am very happy with them. I believe you sign a 12 month contract.

He'd be worth every penny ;))
Dongle might be a better idea now you mention it -how much are you for that then ?
I'm sure you know Drissy, that the cheapest is often the worst. I reckon support service is worth paying for.
I've always been with Eclipse. None of that "support" cr@p you've been having with AOL.
The phone deals are good too.
I did it DONT do it, I got conned by AOLand cant do anything for 15 months as it is a contract there phone charges are not FREE , I pay AOL around £30 quid a month plus £22.00 for bt landline,

MM -funny I did have a look at the Sky deal as we are currently £50 a month for Sky alone -so with a bit of tweaking that could be an option -liking the 12mth as well.Just have to bung the Sports package on and pay seperately.Think thats a real option -had any probs with them?
I'm on a 12 month contract with BT and for £34.00 a month I get up to 8mb broadband with no limit download, my phone line and all UK calls except to 0800's and mobile numbers.
Every time I sign up again I get a free gift which so far have been 2 BT Home Hubs, and a wifi printer..........
The Post Office were good when I was with them. Good service, no long contract, free evening and weekend calls and free calls to mobiles at the weekends. They do a few different levels and line rental was cheaper than BT. I only left them as I needed new Sky box and I got one free for signing up for 12 months.
No probs at all Dris. We are happy with them.
I would go down the Sky route Dris, if you take everything from them i.e Broadband, Phone, Sky TV package you should be able to negotiate a good price. Barter with them !
I fixed my neighbour up with an Orange dongle like Fluffer's. They claim 3.5 Mbs speed, but it's nothing like it, mostly due to contention I guess (squillions of users all on at the same time).

I have been with AOL for 6yrs and they are RUBBISH in my opinion -their customer service in my opinion is cr@p and I agree Builder -you only get what you pay for.Havent heard of Eclipse have tp say -shall look tho.
Josephine -funny something in the back of my mind this afternoon just said DONT -thats 2 fairly major muck-ups withing 2wks -im still seething at them stealing my money.
I pay around £60 for landline (free landline calls), broadband and the XL package on Virgin Media. I've been with them for years and they won't reduce the price. Its annoying as I've tried lloking at the Sky packages and they only seem to be a couple of quid cheaper so its not really worth changing.

Thanks everyone -im off to phone Sky (since we can reduce our bill to them) and also to check BT out (my brother went to them and he's usually canny) -cant phone him so wanted to get AOL done and dusted asap.
I'll let you all know how I get on
Thanks again for taking the time to help me hone them down.
i think its £12 a month but its all in with my phone contract so not sure. but its no much good if you download a lot. i just use mine for surfing and that's fine
I just have Broadband (no phone or tv package.) when I first got my laptop my daughter got me the Broadband through o2 for a year, after that I spoke to them about renewing and I got it £7.95 per month no contract, and cancel when I want to. It is possibly a bit slow but I'm not sure whether thats the laptop or the broadband. What do I know!
'Which', the consumer magazine recommend O2 very highly, and also Plusnet, after extensive research into all the ISPs.
Surprise, surprise,,,,,,AOL comes bottom of their lists. A big NO NO.
Having tried 4 other ISPs, I'm now with Plusnet, and am delighted with my package.
You say o2 are good ... they are... but nobody seems to be aware of who supplies o2 with their broadband.
... 'Be' .. supply o2 I have been with them for a year now and am just about to renew. What an amazing service. I am on an 8meg package unlimited and un-throttled.
At the moment (busiest time of the day) I am getting 7.8meg.
My neighbour is on BT, so we are the same distance from the exchange. His speed varies between 1mb and 5mb. He can't wait to get out of contract.

aarrgghh -how simple was this...
Me to Sky - I am an existing customer (check) what broadband deals along with line rental and unlimited calls do you have to offer?
Victor -Can offer you Connect (right) 6.5 ?? (right) depending on how far from exhange (right) unlimited calls (right) for £52.75
Me to Victor -so if we add Sports channel what then? (lost the will to live but hey ho)
Victor -that will be an extra (right) erm (right) £20 (right)
Me to Victor -so that means we would be paying you £72.75 per month?
Victor -yeah ..well... right..
Me -Cheers Victor -Bye.
You would think they would be screaming for your business -we have had SKy phoning US and offering US deals but we couldnt commit.

Off to try again -i'll try plusnet as well Scylax -they do appear at the top of most of the sites -just havent heard of them before so they might not serve my area :(
