I have got a WD passport external hard drive and I am trying to connect it to my PS3. It is currently in the NTFS format but it needs to be in FAT32.. However I can only seem to find an exFAT option to format it to.

I have tried to enter this command in the command prompt, format /FS:FAT32 F:, (F being the hard drive) but it didn't work.

Would anybody know how to format it to FAT32?

You do have another choice then.

Click start > run, type in cmd and then press CTRL + ALT + enter and it will start the command prompt in elevated mode (you may need to enter a password)

Then the DOS format will work. (though the software I linked to will also do the job)

use

(is the drive over 1TB? because the DOS format should have worked otherwise)

Is your external WD passport drive equal to or greater than 1TB in size perhaps?

Sorry, late answer. Are you running command prompt as an Administrator? If not, you have to right click the cmd and choose "Run as administrator". By default, it doesn't run like that.
lol no point in me answering - I don't type fast enough!
LOL.... we are doing well at cross posting here mobius :)
And if It's an consolation, I was wrong :)

It's CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER to open a command prompt in elevated mode :)

Thanks to you both. I think I have got it formatted :)
:0) good :)

the software probably didn't work for the same reason as the DOS format originally, it probably needed to be run as an administrator for it to be able to format a drive.
