sorry, reposting from how it works! how to close mailbox on apple macbook pro

ive been having trouble sending an email which includes a pic from ipics on my apple macbook pro. the email hasnt sent and now when i click on the mail icon at the bottom saying i have 29 messages i doesnt do anything. when i try and log off the computer totally ie shut down it says i have to log out of mail first which i cant seem to do. any ideas what i must do please?

its a photo from facebook that ive copied and pasted and posting on to a relative.

no sorry dont know how big pic is. ive looked on facebook, its the profile pic ive copied, cant see a size. any ideas as i still cant close down my computer as saying mail is open, darn thing!!!

Go to the Apple logo top left of your screen and click. Go down the menu to Force Quit and click. in the new window click Mail, then click Force Quit. That should shut down down Mail for you.
