HI

Recently my windows media player and real player video player has stopped working properly and instead of a picture when i play a divx or xvid file i still get the sound but the picture is stretched into 3 columns and predominently dark blue. (completely unwatchable.)  i can use power dvd to watch these things but would like to know if anyone has this problem or knows how to fix it. i have all the codecs and it used to work...something else may be corrupting it.  just not sure.. any ideas?

many thanks

The most obvious answer is that it is the codecs on WMP. A very common solution is to open affected files with Media Player Classic.
There may be more complicated ways round it if you'd like to put more effort in (update your codecs) but that's the "catch all" solution which requires very little thought from me (I'm tired).
