If I cancel my subscription to Sky HD (due to escalating costs again) will the box become totally redundant or will I be able to receive any TV channels through it?

TIA

You can buy a Freesat card from Sky that gives you access to 240 channels. The card only costs £25 (one off payment). No monthly charge. Works with existing Sky equipment.

btw Ignore the £175 cost on the first page, this is only for people who have no existing Sky dish or Sky box.

If you look at their FAQ, item 3, it tells you what to do if you already have Sky equipment.

Use an old sky card .. the one with picture of house on a blue card. You will then get the freesat channels .. without subscription.
