Problem - my cumputer will not shut down automatically

When I press the shut down button, it proceeeds to the next stage and closes down the programmes.

However, it does not complete the shut down process.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and check to see if any
programmes are shown as running. If so
shut them down then try closure.

this could be a driver problem. often windoze won't shut down properly if there's some hardware conflict. try disconnecting peripherals and narrow it down. and if by chance you're using a lexmark printer - well, 'nuff said.
