Electronic engine tuning

When I owned an old Metro I often had it tuned by a mobile engine tuner ( Crypton or similar). Plug and points gaps, carburation, timing etc were all checked and adjusted and the difference in all-round performance was quite noticeable.

Is there any point in having my Mk2 petrol Mondeo similarly tuned, or is this done automatically by the engine management system ?

Cheers.

yep, spot on....they can fault find but not really tune a such
Favourite on Mk2 mondeo with Zetec engines are Plugs and Plug Lead set. Cause all sorts of rough running and idle problems.

Thanks, mates. That's what I thought, but I'll change my leads ASAP. Any idea which are the best in terms of efficiency and cost ?

Motorcraft, Hella or Ford are best quality for leads.
Try not to use the Halford specials (bright coloured, super floppy leads)
NGK plugs are good in Zetec.
