Last year I bought a laptop with Windows Vista Basic and installed the Norton Anti-Virus that came with it at a reduced price. The 1-year licence is due to run out in less than 3 weeks and as I didn't want to pay the £55 Norton were asking for a download I got the CD version from Amazon for £21.13 inc p+p. My question is: When I load in the CD will it automatically ask if I wish to override the old version or do I have to uninstall it first? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am an older (female) user who knows how to use the usual programs but when it comes to this sort of stuff I start getting nervous. Any help (in language I understand) would be very much appreciated.

Stands back to make room for ChuckFickens ...
In theory yes it should remove the old version, but to be safe I personally would use the norton removal tool to get rid of the old version first then install the new version.

Thank you for such a speedy reply. Puts my mind at rest. Don't know why but I just get really nervous when I have to do things like that. Must be my age I suppose };o) It's no good asking hubby as he doesn't even know where the 'ON' button is (and I am only talking about the laptop!!)
