My husband has bought the disc! I run Vista, he thinks I should load Windows 7 instead! is it a good idea?.......................

Yes it is. Windows 7 is better than Vista in every possible way...

Remember, though, that you can't legally use the same licence key on more than one computer...

Purely personal but I use Windows XP, Vista, 7 and others and I prefer XP over Win 7 everytime.
Nobody likes getting used to a new Operating System but 7 is awful.
