Windows XP - my pictures

Couple of weeks ago bought new camera to replace old one which had died. It s a Pentax optio E75. The quick start guide states that after inserting battery and charging, to 1.insert the software cd into CD-ROM drive then 2. There are four options in Setting screen. Please select and install the desired software by following the instructions on the screen. WELL , nothing happens when I insert disc. A piece of paper which came with camera states ".....please read the Operating Manual(s) thoroughly before you start using it" Manual is on disc. Phoned Pentax Service and they said I didnt need disc - just plug camera straight into pc via usb cable provided. Did this and downloaded into 'my pictures' There are 90 pictures. Now I need to email aprox half of these to a relative. I've been attempting to follow instructions off Google by putting selected pics in a file and the emailing just that file. I couldnt get it to work but noticed that all selected photos were appearing as duplicate then triplicate etc and was growing each time I tried to delete the copies. I now have around a thousand copies of the 40 or so I intented to email. How do I delete them all in order to start again from scratch? Its driven me mad

did you delete them from the camera when you copied them over?
if you did not then the easiest way is probably to delete all the relevent pictures off your computer and then copy them over from the camera again (double check that they are on the camera before deleting them from the computer though)
If they are not still on the camera then, when you can see the list of pictures you want to delete click on the first one you want deleted, hold down shift and click on the last one you want to delete, this should highlight the two you clicked on and everyone in between. now just press delete.
just to raise another point, I seriously doubt that you will be able to email 40odd pictures to anyone in one go, unless they are very small low resolution pictures then 40 of them is certainly going to be to large for a single email. you might have to attach them 10 at a time and send 4 mails.
To attach multiple pictures to one mail use the same method as I described above, when browsing for the pictures you want to attach simply click the first one you want to attach, hold down shift and then click the last one you want to attach and all between will be selected too, now just press OK and all selected pics will be attached.

ADDITIONAL POINTS FOR MY QUESTION
Previous camera was Fuji FinePix A345 and a strange file entitled Winzip appeared with my photos. It related to Fuji so I deleted it. Furthermore, the file name assigned to the photos taken by the new Pentax bore a strange date. Only later did I realise that the file name and date was the same as that assigned to the last block of Fuji pics downloaded. I modified the name to incude the word 'new Pentax' before I realsed this.
