calling all techies. I have lots of camcorder recordings on little film cassettes which i want to transfer to dvd's (rather than keep on buying more little cassettes). I used to know how to do this but have not done it for so long that I have forgotten and have lost the instructions. I tried the way I thought but it didn't work. I have my tv connected up to a sky plus box, and also to a combi video/dvd recorder. I wondered if it was the sky connections that were interfering because last time I did it we didn't have sky.

The easiest way is to connect the camcorder cables(usually 3 phono leads coloured red white for audio and yellow for video) to the dvd recoder input. If the dvd doesn't have phono inputs you can use a phono to scart adapter such as those for games consoles(xbox & playstation).
Alternatively if it is a dvcam you can connect using firewire which will give the best quality, but not all dvd recorders have this connector, check in your user manual first.

BTW you mention film cassettes if these are 8mm cine film you will probably need to send them off for transfer to dvd, unless you have a projector to hand. Most local camera shops will have this facility as well as Jessops and many others advertising on the internet.
Google cine film to dvd to see what the charges may be.

Thank you. This is what I did but all that happened is that what was showing on tv was recorded so somewhere there are settings that are wrong and I don't know what
You will need to delect the correct input to the dvd recorder, at the moment it seems to be set to the tuner, on the remote or front panel there will be an input select button or switch, press this to change the source. to av1, av2 ect.
