I 've used Norton Internet Security for 4 yrs with no bad problems. Today I had to renew my contract , was guided to NIS 2008. Slow to load and install but worked well til I exited from the the installed application. Within half an hr I lost the icons on the taskbar which one by one became invisible. START,PROGRAMS,bitrate, volume,LAN etcetc replaced by a strip of starless night.. The Norton icon on Desktop shut like a clam, so I couldn't alter the settings. START had no programs in it. Ctrol PanelAdd/Remove Programs shut like a clam when I tried to Uninstall NIS 2008. The START and TASKBAR behaved likewise. I'm shut out - can't even close down. Anyone seen this?

IMHO, after faffing about with Norton i decided it was a waste fo space and not very effective anyway. I've since gone to Zone alarm which is free and less resource-hungry than norton and have had no probs in the last 2 years. So i'd recommend it instead of norton, saved me time and money.
