My dvd recorder is broken,is there anyway i could connect it to my laptop to transfer or store things on it? Thanks!!

you don't give much info ... the answer is mayb - maybe not

different models/mfrs use different formats (sometimes encoded) to store data ...

something like a tivo has decoders widely available ... some others don't.

if the machine is dead ... you will need to start with a usb external hdd enclosure.
