I have an HP laptop which i would like to connect an external keyboard. I have brought a PS2 / USB convertor.

The keyboard is an old one I have which was not brought for the laptop.

I know the connections are working but the laptop will not recongnise the keyboard.

The simplest thing is to buy a cheap 'plug and play' keyboard - you can buy them for under 10

Ah - that makes sense. :)

My initial guess is that you will need to install the driver for your keyboard - did it come with a set up disk? Can you find the driver on the internet for download?
treat yourself to one of these .... and use your left handed mouse as well

As another leftie I have to ask if you.re ever considered trying to get used to using a standard keyboard? As time goes by, more and more things are governed by computers and you are not always going to have a left one available.
It took me no time at all and could hit the number without looking in about 4 hours of normal usage.
Even the mouse has normal button configuration although I do admit to it being on the left side of the keyboard.
Wildwood .... you depress me no end ....

I'm right handed ... been in the game for over 30 years .... and still cant hit a single key without looking ....
(I just tried ... missed the keyboard ... almost lost an eye '-(
