Internet browser / mouse problem

I have a problem with either my mouse or internet explorer , when i left click on my browser eg my favorites ... nothing drops down , and nothing drops down when i click onto the file / edit / tools / buttons etc.
But left clicking works on my desktop before i go onto the internet ??

I am confused ??

It's a bit late but if you go to control panel and select the mouse option you may find you have the right hand button set as the default instead of the left
