How can I set up a new user account with unrestricted access to all files on the hard drive in windows Vista? I've tried but it keeps asking me for an administrator password, and I don't want to use passwords.

I'm guessing that you are not an administrator?

an admin I can set up a new account using either control panel or mmc without being asked for a password .... and without being required to set a password on the new account

as a standard user you can't create admin accounts .... you are asked to log on as an admin ....

THE admin is disabled by default .... if you have an admin account - to enable right click my computer | manage
in mmc go to users ... and enable the account .... this will give the level of access you require.

I am the administrator - and in order for the other user to access my files I have to set up a password. It's only to enable me to sync a second ipod so there are no security issues - I am the only person who uses the pc. So can I bypass the password??
I'm not clear why you need to set a password to allow another user to access your files.
You can right-click the folder as yourself, choose properties, and go to the security tab
In the Users and groups section, add your other username.
Check the boxes in the section below to grant permissions.

thank you, that works. I had been going in as the new user and trying to access the files, at which point it asks you for a password (even though there isn't one set up).
