Hi, I'm trying to record just the audio from a DVD with lots of chapters. I can do it with some software I have using the 'stereo mix' setting of the sound card input and pressing record. I have to do this individually with each chapter. Anyone recommend a program (preferably free) that will do this automatically? I have downloaded several already and they ALL crash my computer (even the trial versions). Could this be a codec issue or is it because I'm using the Windows Media Center version of XP? Any help appreciated.

Thanks Zen, I have Audacity but thought I would have to do the tracks/chapters individually. Someone has suggested capturing the whole disc and then putting in markers for the tracks.

I've just managed half of the DVD (it's 156 mins long) using Sony Vegas Studio which can import the DVD chapters and then record an audio CD. Unfortunately, the 'track at once' option doesn't seem to separate the tracks! The 'disc at once' option seems to have a problem with some of the tracks. Good audio CD quality though. Still working on it.

Don't know why the DVD Audio rippers crash the computer (Google hasn't helped).

Thanks again, Zen.

Managed to do it properly now with Sony Vegas (but would still like a free solution if possible).
