My new Sony laptop has been giving me all sorts of grief and the only thing I had installed was RealPlayer so I uninstalled it and now everything is just fine. Did a bit of research and found this on a University website but find nothing on the Windows site.

RealPlayer is NOT compatible with Windows Vista Operating System
February 6, 2007
With the recent release of the new operating system Windows Vista, it has come to the attention of UD Help Desk staff that the current version of RealPlayer (10.5) for Windows is NOT compatible with Windows Vista. RealNetworks indicates that they are working on a new version that will be released soon to address these compatibility issues.

Does anyone else know anything of this or had any problems ???????

Realplayer is one of the worst programs out there.

Real Alternative is far better in many ways, and while it doesn't say it works with Vista explicitly you could always try it:

As far as Realplayer not working with Vista, it doesn't surprise me; many programs aren't working properly with Vista.
