I had a problem with NTLDR files missing just before Christmas on my computer. I took it PC World where I bought it from. To cut a long story short they had to back up my files and wipe the hard drive clean. I find now that I have programmes previosly installed now missing ie. Microsoft Works, money, big fix ect.basically they have told me that these are probably hidden on the hard drive and that I would have to purchase restore discs. I have two restore discs which came with the pc but having spoken to the Tech Guys these disks are unable to find the missing programs anyone any ideas.

If PC World wiped your hard drive to re-install windows then the programs you had are probably gone. If they took a backup of your system then all would be back as it was as they reloaded the backup they took (didn't they??) Sorry to be a pessimist.
Instead of Microsoft Works you could try OpenOffice which does the same but is free - http://www.openoffice.org/ to download it.
