iTunes problem

I have a hard drive from my old laptop (40GB) which contains around 12GB of music.

This music is divided almost equally between that which I have downloaded via fileshare programs and that which I have uploaded onto iTunes via the import function i.e. it is mainly my CD collection on iTunes plus a small amount of files which I have paid for and downloaded.

On the old laptop I had a password set up on XP, and having taken the hard drive out the password was still set up on the drive when I accessed it via a caddy.

I took it to a data recovery specialist who retrieved most of the data (that which I had downloaded) but I still cannot access the iTunes data.

I am aware that it should be held in the My Documents/MyFolders/iTunes/iTunes Libraries which is present on the drive and I can open it but it contains no data (or at least appears not to).

However, when clicking "properties" on the right-click menu on the drive in My Computer, the difference between the drive's capacity and the remaining free space can only be accounted for by the iTunes library.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

The music should be in itunes music, not the itunes library folder.
Of course the only music that will be in the itunes folder are the cd's you have ripped using itunes and any music that you have "bought" using the itunes shop.
All the music you have downloaded will be in the normal folders, being the place your fileshare program would have saved them to.

Also, make sure nothing has been hidden. You pointed out that the itunes folder still held oodles of data yet it is unaccessable. Well, XP's password is only for accessing windows, not for accessing any programs, files or data. (that is like having a lock on your front door and then having a padlock on the kitchen, bathroom, loo, kitchen cupboards, etc)
