connection to printer from laptop

Can anyone tell me why my connection to my printer from my laptop is not working, I keep getting the message 'Print spooler service not running' but when I check in admin tools it says that it is running?

Try stopping and restarting the print spooler service.
If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.
